Great Game Fairs of Ireland All Ireland Game Fair Championships
The largest and best sponsored Gundog events at any Fair in Ireland are staged at the two Great Game Fairs of Ireland at Shanes Castle and Birr Castle. That is why the Fairs host the All Ireland Game Fair Championships for Retriever Handlers.

Ireland's Top Gundog Events are at the Great Game Fairs of Ireland at Shanes Castle and Birr Castle. In 2009 Shanes Castle hosted the Retriever Handling Championships with a £2,550 watch won by the Champion handler.

Saturday 22nd August National Open & International Spaniel Tests (organised by Eddie Kirk and the ESS of Ireland) Starts 9.00am.

Saturday afternoon features a North/South International team test.
Prize Structure : International : Top Dog (overall) Dog transporter box sponsored by Stuart Dunn. Members of winning team £100 voucher off price of Dog Boxes or Trailers produced by Stuart Dunn.

Preliminary and Novice Tests including the Barbour All Ireland Novice Retriever handling Championships.

On Saturday the Irish Water Spaniel Club will be organising Preliminary and Novice Retriever Tests with special prizes for AV other than Labrador Retriever. The Novice test is a heat for the final of the new Barbour All Ireland Game Fair Novice Championships and a qualifying heat for the 2010 Championships to be staged at Shanes Castle. The top four novice dogs at Birr will meet the qualifiers from Shanes Castle 2009 to compete for the Championship, a specially engraved tankard and the top prize of a Barbour Linhope coat worth £400.

RETRIEVERS on Sunday

National Open and International team events. These events are organised by Derek Harford and the Broadmeadows Gundog Club.
