Soaring to success
Another first for the Irish Game & Country Fair at Birr - a hot balloon will soar over the Birr Fair at the weekend of the
27/28 August. Taking off from the front of the castle it will carefully skirt what is expected to be one of the largest clay
shoots in Ireland this year. With competition expected to be fierce for a huge prize fund of two guns , a clay trap , TVs and
several other prizes in a prize fund worth over €15,000 we don't want to have anyone claiming they were distracted by a UFO!
New Buggy shuttle service from Car Park A
At the Birr Fair we offer patrons probably the most beautiful walk to any game fair by way of a scenic forest, lakeside and river
walk. But for those who wish to travel to and from the Fair in a bit more comfort we have provided a new buggy shuttle service
whereby patrons can 'save their legs and help a little local boy walk'. When we heard about the campaign to raise funds for a
life changing operation for a local boy www.oranswishtowalk.net we
decided to ask patrons using this service to donate just €1 per person or €2 per family to this very worthwhile appeal.
Oran's mum will organise the collection of donations and all money raised will go directly towards the cost of the operation.
The shuttle sevice will operate from 10.00 to 6.00 each day with two vehicles in operation.
